Last week we were once again privileged to be apart of the annual Wilkins Family Independence Day Celebration in Luckenbach.  We look forward to this all year long.  Tina Wilkins does such a wonderful job of planning these events with the help of great friends and framily.  The event began for us on July 3rd. We fried fish and hush puppies and made loaded baked potato casserole, coleslaw and summer green salad for everyone at the sponsor party.  The event was located in Fredericksburg at a great new venue called The Coop with music from Possum Posse.  After the sponsor party, everyone heads out to the baseball field for a SERIOUS game of night wiffle ball.  The next day Walt Wilkins and friends serenaded Fredericksburg's Main Street in the 4th of July Parade on the float for the fabulously remodeled Fredericksburg Inn and Suites. The main event in Luckenbach benefits The Austin Harmony Project founded by Tressie Seegers, which is an organization whose mission is to enrich the lives of adults with intellectual or developmental disabilities through the power of art, music, and community. The music on July 4th was provided by Walt Wilkins and the Mystiqueros with guests Josh Grider, Kristi Grider, Zac Wilkerson, and a special rendition of our National Anthem by Tobun Merriet, a student at the Austin Harmony Project!  Their music was the soundtrack to a raffle, silent auction and split the pot totaling a donation of $10,000 for the AHP! This year the event also raised an additional amount of over $1200 for The Golden Hub of Fredericksburg.   Everyone should make plans to head to the hill country next summer to celebrate and raise money for such wonderful organizations! The beautiful logo for Live Free and Fly was designed by the talented Julie Sckittone. For some more great shots like the ones in the slide show, check out Robyn Dodd Photography & Dave Hensley Photography. Thanks to Steve Elliot for pictures as well.
